I am a recorder player, my first study was recorder for my BA (Dartington College of Arts) my MA (chichester) was recorder performance and my research that was supervised by Huddersfield uni was on the legacy of Freda Dinn on modern music education in primary schools. I love performing, love teaching and love watching my students perform at the twice a year concert in the cathedral. I teach adults and children, and love working with such a diverse student base.
I have taught for more than thirty years, both in the classroom and privately at home.

I like to find the music that excites the student, I am not pushing for exams unless students want that, I do encourage performance through arranging student recitals. I believe that recorder players need to play the family of instruments a recorder is not only soprano or alto but the collection...this is shown by the number of pieces that expect players to switch between instruments. I like to explore modern music as well as more traditional recorder music.

Qualifications
BA music (performance and composition), MA (performance) PGCE, music, Cert.Ed. FE music
