Otto is a recorder player from London with a broad range of experience both in classical and pop music contexts. Passionate about promoting the recorder as a fine instrument at all ability levels, he uses the breadth of this experience to make lessons personally relatable to pupils’ unique musical interests, tailoring a pathway that fosters growth and engagement at all levels. Otto has experience teaching both young pupils and adult learners.He performs widely as a soloist through UK and EU touring, including previously as support for acclaimed jazz musician Shabaka Hutchings. As a session player he has recorded for projects in the UK, Germany, USA and beyond including recent soundtracks for BBC and ZDF. As musical director and session musician in he has toured Europe and North America, including performances at SXSW, Canadian Music Week, Tallinn Music Week. He is a member of the early music ensemble Londinium Consort, winners of the Worshipful Company of Musicians' New Elizabethan Award 2024/25. Otto received his MMus Advanced Instrumental Studies in recorder from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in addition to studying baroque oboe. He received his BA (Hons) Music from the University of Bristol where he focused on recorder performance, musicology with specialism in early music and African-American music, and studio composition, for which he received the university's Studio Composition Award upon graduation.
